MausHaus Mousery got it's name from the German spellings of both Mouse and House. Any mice bred here will have the initials MH in front of the names. Any mice that are either bred here or named by myself will also have 'vom Maus' after their names. Vom means 'of' in German.

I am currently working with standard coat, angora, satin angora and satin mice. I am currently working with colorpoint beige, ivory, blue/blue tan, Siamese, Himalayan, splashed colorpoints, black/black tan, and occasionally recessive yellow, chocolate/chocolate tan, cinnamon and agouti. Many of my mice are the American type, but some are English/Show type. I'm working on incorporating the lines to improve conformation and eventually have more Show type mice. I will be working with manx mice in the near future.

My mice are fed high quality dog food, various low-sugar cereals, fruits and veggies and kept on Sani-Chips or Flaked Aspen bedding. My cages consist of clear 54Q Sterilite tubs with 1/4 inch hardware cloth on the sides and top. This provides the mice with adequate airflow, plenty of room for wheels and toys as well as a safe environment. Mice are provided with safe wheels for exercise, paper towel tubes, a hidey-house (usually a plastic igloo), a water bottle and a food dish.

I quarantine any and all mice for a minimum of 3 weeks in a separate building/location before coming here. My mice get vet care if needed by a qualified small animal veterinarian.

I take the same position as the Midwest Mouse Club on feeders, culling and inbreeding.

The statements below are quoted from the Midwest Mouse Club website.

Feeder Mice
We are neither for, nor against, the raising of mice as feeders. Mice constitute a large portion of the diet of many wild animals kept in captitivty today. We do, however, feel that it is important that even feeder mice are treated humanely and killed in as humane a manner possible.

Culling Litters
We are officially neutral on the ethics of culling litters. Whether or not you choose to cull, we feel that any mice that are killed, whether for feeders or to reduce litter size, should be killed as humanely as possible.

Linebreeding and Inbreeding
We are officially neutral on line and inbreeding. It has both benefits and risks and only each individual can choose whether or not they think one side outweighs the other. I chose to linebreed and inbreed heavily to ensure my lines are the healthiest they can be.
